Anyone want to help a lass out with endless silly small frame questions?

Allstate Blog 1: What have I gotten myself into?

First things first- I have a bit of experience with Lambrettas but I am by no means a good mechanic. I recently impulse bought a 66 Bluebadge. It's my first Vespa. It's not pretty. It doesn't run. Now I have to deal with the consequences of looking at vehicles as if they were kittens in the pound and make it fly.

I am at the point now where it has spark, compression, changes gears, starts from time to tIme, runs rough and slow. I think my next step is to put on a larger carb and electronic ignition. Hoping it will solve most my issues without to much fiddling around. The goal here is to make a reliable scoot and get it done pretty quickly. I'd like to have done before the southeast rallies start in a couple weeks. I have no vespa book outside of the interweb so I would love it if anyone is kind enough to chip in their two cents. Normally I'd just post my questions on a board but I think this is going to be a little to long-winded.

1. How's my shopping list? I would like to spend less but isn't that always the case. What am I forgetting? Do you have any better ideas? See numerous annoying questions

Carb:
19/19 SHB
19/19 Manifold http://www.scootermercato.com/112869 Will this one fit? I think it should but there's a note about it that makes me nervous.
Do I need drop engine or can i wiggle it on there with my small girl hands (too lazy to go look)?
19/19 Carb Sleeve -I'm just guessing i need this, i really don't know anything about such things.
Anything else?

ignition:
et3 flywheel
et3 stator
ducati coil
plug wire and cap
Do i need some sort of regulator?
Anything else?
Do i need special tools to take off/put on this stuff?
How many times will I cry and throw wrenches?

Well Thanks for reading...

What a beautiful machine! Are you sure you need any of that? did you thoroughly clean the carb? often times a clogged jet can cause similar problems. The ignition is a good idea, if it's not the carb I'd start there. Also IMHO it's best to change one thing at a time. I think the best thing to do is just get it runnun, then start replacing what you are sure you need. I'd keep it as close to stock as possible, its sweet!!
